Tourist Village in Yogyakarta Offers Traditional Sports
Jakarta. Sangurejo tourist village in Sleman, Yogyakarta, presents traditional tourism sports, archery jemparingan and martial arts pencak silat, a statement released by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday (23/11) said.
Jemparingan is a traditional archery where participants must wear traditional Javanese attire and sit in a cross-legged position to aim the target which is about 30 meters in front of them.
Tourists can try firsthand the experience of aiming in a unique position while dressed in a traditional costume.
As for pencak silat, there is a martial arts community Silat Tradisi Satria Tama who will teach tourists who want to learn some movements.
The tourist village, which was established in 2016, was named the second winner in Sleman Tourist Village Festival 2016 in Grow category for its fast development in tourism.
The village currently offers eight homestays that can host up to 100 tourists.
