Special Task Force to Ease Traffic Congestion at Tourist Spots in Yogyakarta

Jakarta. Bantul Transportation Agency in Yogyakarta plans special traffic controls ahead of the New Year's Eve celebration.

Bantul district is home to several tourist spots, including Parangtritis Beach, Samas Beach, Baru Beach, royal graveyard complex Imogiri, and Mangunan Dlingo Hill, which are often overcrowded during holidays.

"There are several tourism areas that require traffic control, management and engineering especially for the New Year's," the agency head, Aris Suharyanta, said on Tuesday (26/12), as quoted by state news agency Antara.

"We'll deploy a special task force to the areas we predict will be crowded on New Year's Eve," he added.

"We will be patrolling and monitoring the streets, traffic flow, and providing information to drivers."

According to the agency, the most traffic-prone streets are Jalan Wates, Jalan Wonosari, Jalan Parangtritis, Jalan Bantul, Jalan Imogiri Timur and Jalan Srandakan.
