Yogyakarta Tourist Village a Hit During Long Weekend
Jakarta. Pentingsari Tourist Village in Sleman, Yogyakarta, was crowded with visitors during the Nov. 30-Dec. 3 long weekend.
The tourist village is the winner of the 2017 Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Award in the green bronze category.
Numerous tourists have visited the village whether for a field trip or for spending the night. Among them are 200 students from Sanata Darma University Yogyakarta and 199 students and teachers from Al Azhar 3 High School Jakarta.
The high school students interviewed the local people and joined them in their daily activities.
“Our group are doing a survey about mushroom chips for the school project. It is very nice to spend time with the friendly people here,” said M. Aksan, a student of Al Azhar.
“Everyone is involved. Those at home are preparing homestay rooms for guests and also services, including breakfast. We are limiting for 1,000 guests a day with different activities to make them as comfortable as possible,” said tourist village manager Doto Yogantoro in a statement received on Monday (04/11).
