Jakarta. A couple of days after Jakarta's new airport train was launched on Tuesday (26/12), the capital city's public bus operator TransJakarta also launched new routes connecting its bus network to the Sudirman Baru train station in Central Jakarta — one of the few stations where the airport train passes through.
The airport train connects the city center to the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on its outskirts.
According to a Railink announcement, the train will carry passengers from Sudirman Baru to the airport via Duri Station and Batu Ceper Station.
TransJakarta announced the new routes on Thursday, saying 15 buses will be made available to transport people wanting to get on the airport train from BNI City Station — the new official name for Sudirman Baru after a naming rights deal.
"There will be two new bus routes to BNI City," TransJakarta chief executive Budi Kaliwono said.
The routes are Sudirman Baru (BNI City)-Hotel Indonesia-Sarinah-Bank Indonesia-Gambir-Istana Negara-Monas and Sudirman Baru (BNI City)-Hotel Indonesia-Tosari-Dukuh Atas-Karet-Semanggi-Kuningan-Rasuna Said-Menteng.
TransJakarta will use its new disabled-friendly Metrotrans buses on the new routes.
Each bus has a maximum capacity of 68 passengers and is equipped with 12 CCTV cameras for extra security.
"And we still charge the same standard fare, Rp 3,500 (20 cents)," Budi said.
