Jakarta. Canggu, one of the trendiest beach areas in Bali, will soon see another addition to its fast-growing playgrounds.
COMO Hotel and Resorts announced in Jakarta last week that it will open a new hotel, COMO Uma Canggu, on the holiday island on Feb. 1.
"It's going to be our 14th property [globally] and our third in Bali. It's going to be very exciting," Chris Orlikowski, group director of public relations and communications at COMO Hotels and Resorts, said during a press conference in Jakarta.
The brand also owns and operates COMO Uma Ubud on the slopes of Tjampuhan and COMO Shambala Estate on the Ayung River, both in Ubud.
"What's great about three COMO hotels in Bali is that we can combine travel experiences for the guests," said Eugene Feklistov, regional director of sales and marketing at COMO Hotels and Resorts Bali.
"If you're looking for cultural experiences, COMO Uma Ubud will be perfect. If you're pursuing wellness, you can go to COMO Shambala Estate and if you want to surf and swim, COMO Uma Canggu is now here," he added.
The new luxury resort, which occupies one hectare on the Canggu beachfront, offers 52 standard rooms and suites, 55 apartments and 12 duplex penthouses with private rooftop swimming pools.
In accordance with its Sanskrit name "Uma," the luxury hotel offers the comforts of home within its sleek and modern interior. Renowned interior designers Koichiro Ikebuchi and Paola Navone joined hands to present a combination of elegant Italian and exotic Asian touches in the premises.
"It takes almost two years of preparation," said Javier Beneyto, general manager of COMO Uma Canggu. "It was an existing property that we took over and changed completely."
The resort offers a wide range of activities to guests.
"This property is perfect for families, honeymooners, surfers and those pursuing wellness," Beneyto said.
For surfers and aspiring surfers, certified guides and tutors of the internationally renowned surf operator Tropicsurf will help you navigate the rolling waves, barrels and peaks of Canggu.
The resort's health club, COMO Shambala Retreat, offers holistic treatment options, including Asia-inspired massages, yoga and Pilates classes, as well as gym workouts with private instructors.
The resort further offers the brand's iconic healthy menu, COMO Shambala Cuisine.
"It's all about healthy food [and drinks]," executive sous chef Dedy Sutan said. "But again, they all have to be delicious for our guests."
The all-day dining restaurant, COMO Beach Club, is located at the swimming pool and provides a dramatic view of the Indian Ocean. Live music and DJ performances will accompany you as you dine in the restaurant.
The resort also offers trekking trips to nearby paddy fields and forests, as well as cultural trips to some of the most famous temples in Bali.
