Telkom Invites Students To Enjoy Space Exploration

Ahead of the launch of Telkom 3S, which will be held on February 15 next, PT Telkom Indonesia (Telkom) invited 250 students from the 3T areas into the master control station of satellite Cibinong, Bogor, West Java to learn more about the satellite, wrapped within the Widya Travel concept with the theme "Space Exploration Children of the Nation".
"We are providing an education wrapped in fun concept through Widya Wisata, so that students who are invited can get to know more about satellite in Indonesia, "said Director of Network and IT Solution Abdus Somad Arief.
The launched of Telkom Satellite 3S marks the 40 years of Telkom Indonesia in managing the satellite. "For that reason, we want to give education, especially to students who happen to live within the local Small Earth Stations (SBK) as in Sabang Merauke, Nunukan and Flores in order to understand the true impact of the satellite communications and activities of the local communities," added Arief Abdus Somad.
The participants in the SPU Cibinong Travel Widya consists of 32 representatives from the four regions 3T, namely SMAN I Sabang, Skills SMP Negeri 9 Merauke, SMA 2 Nunukan, SMA 1 Soe Flores along with 218 students and orphans. In addition to reviewing the control center located in the Main Control Station Satellite Cibinong, they also presented the experience of exploring space through a virtual reality video 360o journey from Earth to space and Dome Planetarium located at the site of Widya Wisata.
Telkom will launch Telkom 3S on February 15, 2017, at 4:39 pm at the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana. "Until now all the preparations is on schedule, and we also pray together so that the launch of a satellite in orbit can run smoothly without any obstacles. we also invoke the blessing of all the Indonesian people so that we can provide the best work so as to benefit the whole people of Indonesia, "said Abdus Somad Arief.
