Bogor. Hary Tanoesoedibjo has announced that he will launch his own mass organization, just over two weeks after he abandoned the National Democratic Party.
The owner of Media Nusantara Citra said he wanted to create an organization, which he plans to call United Indonesia Perindo, that would be empowered by more young people with a vision to help Indonesia grow.
“On the 24th of this month, we will declare Perindo as a mass organization,” Hary said on Tuesday night. “The time has come for this nation to be led by young people who are full of spirit, energetic and quick in solving the nation's problems.”
Hary resigned from the National Democratic Party, which is also known as Nasdem, right before the party announced Surya Paloh, another media mogul, as chairman of the party at the end of January. Hary said he preferred Nasdem was led by young people.
Hary, who claims that former Justice Minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra will be joining him, added that several Nasdem members who had quit at the same time were planning on joining him at Perindo.
“When I resigned, they also chose to quit,” Hary said. “So when those who quit move to Perindo, it is normal.”
Hary denied that the party was established to compete against Nasdem.
“It's not like that, we have the same right to build this nation,” he said. “So, it's not wrong to establish a mass organization to build the nation.”
Hary said that he hoped the mass organization would change into a political party in the long run.
