Singer Raisa to Raise Rp 27m for Literacy on Her 27th Birthday
Jakarta. Indonesian singer Raisa Andriana is celebrating her 27th birthday on Tuesday, June 6, by raising money for literacy.
The singer is urging her fans to make donations to Donasibuku.id instead of giving her birthday presents. The donation can be made through charity crowdfunding website Kitabisa.com.
Donasibuku.id is a fundraising website that distributes books to children all over Indonesia.
Raisa said she hopes to raise at least Rp 27 million ($ 2,000) on her birthday.
"I'd like to invite everyone to help improve literacy with me and Donasibuku.id," Raisa said in a statement released on Monday (05/06).
"I want all Indonesian children to have a bright future. Their happiness will also be mine."
Since her announcement, many Instagram users have complimented Raisa's fundraising venture on her official Instagram account @raisa6690.
Chief executive of Kitabisa.com, Alfatih Timur, said in a statement Raisa's literacy fundraising is part of a new program called Birthday Fundraising.
Other celebrities like Chelsea Islan, Tatjana Saphira, Indro Warkop, Pandji Pragiwaksono and Vidi Aldiano have also used the program to raise money for their favorite charities.
"Birthday is a special moment for everyone. Kitabisa.com offers an alternative way to celebrate it."
