Jakarta. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, the local unit of the Japanese automotive giant Toyota Motor Corporation, appointed Warih Andang Tjahjono as the new president director of the company, who will assume the position on April 1.
"I am very honored to have been appointed to run the company. I highly respect the integrity and hard work of Masahiro Nonami, the previous president director at Toyota Indonesia," Warih said in a statement on Monday (13/03).
Warih started his career with the company in 1989 and has gained ample experience in the automotive industry since.
At Toyota Indonesia, Warih held several key directorship positions, however, his most notable position so far was when he served as vice president of the company.
Toyota Indonesia is a joint venture between Astra International and Toyota Motor Corporation, responsible for assembly production and the export of Toyota cars overseas.
The venture was first established under the name Toyota-Astra Motor in 1971 and now has a total of five plants operating in Sunter, North Jakarta and Karawang, West Java, producing Innova, Fortuner, Vios, Yaris, Sienta and Etios Valco models.
Toyota Indonesia also exports complete built up cars to more than 80 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
