Jakarta. As many as 19 companies on Wednesday evening came home as winners at the CSR Awards ceremony hosted by B-Universe Media Holdings

The awards recognize the success of the companies’ corporate social responsibility initiatives. Winners include state-owned banks BRI and BNI, state energy firm Pertamina, and aluminum producer Inalum, among others.

The awards aim to inspire other companies to follow in their footsteps of helping others.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy highlighted the need to establish an ecosystem in which everyone helps one another.

“This is what is needed for a powerful Indonesia. This mutual cooperation [gotong royong] is what our founding father Soekarno advocated. This is what Pancasila is about,” Muhadjir said at the awarding ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to B Universe executive chairman Enggartiasto Lukita, this is a momentum to care for one another.

“Let’s boost our economy and business activities, but we must not forget to help each other. But we should not think of this as a burden. This is possible by working whole-heartedly,” Enggartiasto said.

The selection process of the winners had already begun in Feb. 2023, amassing 700 listed and non-listed companies. The 700 companies went through a selection process based on the companies’ CSR scoring on the CSR Hub report. As many as 100 companies advanced to the next stage in which they had to fill in forms to present their leading CSR initiatives. The second phase then selected 45 companies who then went through virtual judging on May 8-17. They then ended up with 19 companies with the best CSR initiatives.

The judging panel encompassed three academicians and practitioners, namely: Wahyu T Setyobudi (lecturer and researcher at Global Business Marketing - Binus School), Emilia Bassar (Bogor Research Institute or IPB), and Mas Achmad Daniri (The National Committee on Governance Policy or KNKG).

The honorary judges, namely the Chief Cultural Minister Muhadjir Effend and B Universe’s Enggartiasto, picked one of the three companies with the highest score as the top winner.
