The project will be Podomoro Group's fourth major investment in low-cost apartments after the Kalibata City apartment complex in South Jakarta, Gading Nias Residences in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, and Green Bay Pluit in Pluit, West Jakarta.

Samsung deal

In the same day, Agung Podomoro also signed a partnership agreement with Samsung Electronic Indonesia, the local arm of South Korean electronic manufacturer Samsung, to provide smart home technology products for Podomoro's residential properties customers in a bid to expand the market share of both companies.

In the first step of a one-year deal, Samsung will provide basic electronic units, including air conditioner, television, and refrigerator for existing customers and to prospective customers who buy units in the upcoming towers and apartments of Podomoro's residential properties. Customers can buy it as a single item according to their preferences or as a package.

The deal will also enable Samsung to showcase its products at Podomoro's trade malls, including Harco Glodok in West Jakarta, Blok B Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta, Blok M Square in South Jakarta, Plaza Balikpapan in East Kalimantan and others.

"We believe that the cooperation with Samsung will further strengthen our business as Samsung showcasing their products in Podomoro's trade mall will increase our visitors, while Samsung can expands its market presence," Agung Podomoro trade mall assistant vice president for marketing Ho Mely Surjani said in a statement.

However, Iwan would not disclose on how much the contract worth.

In the near future, Podomoro wants to take the deal further with Samsung technology by implementing the Internet of Things (IoT) which enables homeowners to integrate their household appliances with their smart devices — cellphone and tablet. For instance, the IoT technology will enable homeowners to operate a microwave or washing machine remotely by using their smartphones.

It will also have smart-locked system, equipped by cameras, in which homeowners are able to monitor visitors and control who gains access to their homes from their devices.
