Air Ambulance Reportedly Skids Off Runway at Halim Airport
Jakarta. A jet operated by Nusantara Air Charter reportedly skidded off the runway at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport in East Jakarta, the airport's general manager, A. Rasyid Jauhari, told BeritaSatu TV on Sunday evening (25/09).
The jet was chartered by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to perform a medical evacuation from Yogyakarta on Sunday. All eight people on board, including a French woman, are safe, Rasyid said.
The jet reportedly skidded off the runway during landing at 7.48 p.m. as the pilot was experiencing poor visibility due to heavy rain.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla, a former PMI chairman, reportedly inspected the jet before it departed to Yogyakarta earlier.
The runway at Halim airport was closed following the incident.
