AirAsia Launches Five New Domestic Routes
Jakarta. Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia announced five new domestic routes in Indonesia which will be available from Aug.1. The new routes are Jakarta-Lombok, Bali-Lombok, Yogyakarta-Lombok, Bali-Labuan Bajo and Surabaya-Kertajati.
"We thank the Transportation Ministry and all our stakeholders for their support, which made it possible for us to offer these new routes," AirAsia Indonesia director Dendy Kurniawan said in Jakarta on Monday.
He also said the new routes are part of AirAsia's commitment to support tourism in Indonesia by improving connectivity in the country.
"These new routes answer our customers' demand for affordable and quality flights to popular tourist destinations in Indonesia," Dendy said.
He said the airline has waited a long time to expand its domestic network, and was finally able to do so after establishing a new AirAsia hub in Lombok and adding a new Airbus A320 to its fleet.
AirAsia also offers the following domestic routes currently: Jakarta-Bali, Jakarta-Yogyakarta, Jakarta-Surabaya, Bali-Yogyakarta, Bali-Surabaya, Bali-Solo, Yogyakarta-Medan Kualanamu and Bandung-Bali.
The airline is offering discounted introductory airfares on some of the new routes: Jakarta-Lombok starting from Rp 635,000 ($45), Bali-Lombok starting from Rp 243,000 and Surabaya-Kertajati starting from Rp 626,000.
You can book your discounted tickets on the AirAsia website or using the AirAsia app from June 24-30 for flights on Aug. 1-Oct. 26. The airfares include a baggage allowance of 15 kilograms.
