AMSI to Host Digital Economy Conference
Jakarta. The Indonesian Cyber Media Association, or AMSI, will hold a national-scale digital economy conference featuring ministers and top entrepreneurs in Jakarta on Thursday.
The conference will be held all day long at the Jakarta Theater Hall in Central Jakarta.
Key speakers from businesses include Lippo Group founder Mochtar Riady, investment firm Mandiri Capital chief executive Eddie Danusaputra, digital payment platform OVO president director Karaniya Dharmasaputra, Telkomsel Mitra Inovasi chief executive Andi Kristianto and several other prominent businessmen.
The Indonesia Digital Conference will also present Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Teten Masduki and Research and Technology Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, among other top government officials, the organizers said in a statement.
"In the digital era, what seemed impossible in the past has become reality, thanks to leaps in technology and innovation. Companies who used to compete with each other may have been forced to collaborate to grow together," AMSI chairman Wenseslaus Manggut said.
He said as home to major online media companies, AMSI is strongly committed to encouraging a fair and competitive digital business ecosystem capable of opening up new business opportunities.
AMSI, Indonesia's biggest news company group in terms of readership, was founded in April 2017 and is now home to more than 100 news websites, including Indonesia's top 50 brands.
"Aside from an open digital market, we also need fair regulations from the government to allow a healthy business climate. This is one of the key issues that will be discussed [in the conference] – how Indonesia prepares itself for the transformation toward the digital age," he said.
Organizing committee chairman Metta Dharmasaputra said President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo was invited to open the conference but the State Palace had not confirmed his attendance.
The conference will discuss several key topics in four separate sessions, from industry 4.0 and digital banking to fintech and the role of digital platform in the economy.
"The conference is open to the public and free of charge, but you must first register through our website or the committee's WhatsApp number – 081295302195 – since seats are limited," Metta said.
The Jakarta Globe is among the founding members of AMSI.
