Astra International Named Best Company in Indonesia
Jakarta. Diversified conglomerate Astra International took out the Best Company in Indonesia award from FinanceAsia magazine late last week.
FinanceAsia hosted the 20th Anniversary Platinum Awards at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong on Thursday (13/10), with publisher Jonathan Hirst presenting the award to Astra president director Prijono Sugiarto.
The company has previously won the FinanceAsia Best Managed Company award 13 times between 2001 and 2015, as well as the Best Corporate Governance award 10 times between 2003 and 2015.
Prijono called Astra a "national asset," boasting 202 subsidiaries and 2,500 vendors and blue-chip stocks work Rp 337 billion ($25.8 million) as of Oct. 12.
“On behalf of myself and Astra’s management, we thank all of our stakeholders for participating in the survey and supporting Astra’s 59 year journey. We certainly hope Indonesian people would be proud of our achievement,” Prijono said.
Prijono himself won FinanceAsia’s Best CEO award in 2011 and 2013.
Triple P roadmap strategy
Astra introduced the Triple P Roadmap in 2010, including portfolio, public contribution and people strategies. The measure was taken to ensure long term sustainable growth, namely finding opportunities to diversify revenue sources, improve the quality of human resources and expand corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The portfolio portion of the plan is an overview of business development strategies based on market conditions. The people roadmap focuses on human resource development, while the public contribution section addresses the company's CSR.
South Korean tech giant Samsung, China Telecom, Singapore's Singtel and Thai oil and gas firm PTT all took out Best Company awards.
