Bali Airport to See 613 Extra Flights During Year-End Holiday
Jakarta. Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport will welcome at least 613 additional flights during the Christmas and New Year period to anticipate an influx of travelers during the long year-end holiday, the airport management said on Sunday (18/12).
Airport co-general manager Putu Puja Supradnyana said the additional flights, which will provide an extra 105,516 seats, were proposed by national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Sriwijaya Air, Nam Air, Lion Air and Indonesia AirAsia.
The additional flights will serve routes from and to Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Surabaya (East Java), Makassar (South Sulawesi) and Labuan Bajo, Waingapu and Maumere (East Nusa Tenggara), as well as several other destinations.
Flight traffic at the airport is expected to peak on Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 and again between Jan. 1 and Jan 3, Putu said.
"We have also paid serious attention to our equipment and assets, such as runways, aprons, navigation systems, ambulances, firetrucks and generators," Putu said, as reported by state-run news agency Antara.
He said airport operator Angkasa Pura I will also push airlines to improve their services to avoid delays and an accumulation of passengers.
