Jakarta. Indonesia's Tourism Ministry will hold the Bali and Beyond exhibition on Nov. 26-27 at Amoy Plaza in Hong Kong to try to attract more Chinese tourists to Indonesia.
The ministry will invite travel agents from Hong Kong to the exhibition, who will be presented with a wide variety of travel packages to Indonesia.
The ministry's assistant deputy of tourism development and marketing in Asia Pacific, Vinsensius Jemadu, said they will introduce 10 new "branded" destinations in the exhibition, including Colorful Medan, Java Cultural Wonders, Coral Wonders for Bunaken, Wakatobi, Raja Ampat and Bali the Island of the Gods.
"Bali is the main theme for the exhibition since it's still the most popular Indonesian tourist destination for people from Hong Kong," Vinsensius said on Thursday (23/11).
According to ministry data, 40 percent of international visitors to Indonesia enter the country through Bali, 30 percent through Jakarta and 20 percent through the Riau Islands.
Vinsensius said the exhibition will also promote popular Indonesian commodities such as coffee, spa products and traditional toys.
Hong Kong is a potential market for Indonesia. Tourists from the city spend on average $1340 per tourist per visit to Indonesia.
