Bank Mandiri Names Kartika as New President Director
MARCH 21, 2016
Jakarta. Bank Mandiri, Indonesia's biggest bank by assets, appointed Kartika Wirjoatmodjo as its new president director on Monday (21/03) replacing Budi Gunadi Sadikin who finished his tenure this year.
Kartika, also known as Tiko, will lead the state-owned lender's global expansion while hoping to increase its profits and market share locally.
Kartika beat other high-profile candidates such as Mandiri's own treasury and markets director Pahala N. Mansury and corporate banking director Royke Tumilaar, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) vice president director Sunarso, former Worker Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) chairman Elvyn G. Masassya and Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) president director Maryono.
Tiko previously served as Bank Mandiri's finance director since last year. He had also served as Deposit Insurance Agency (LPS) executive chairman, among other posts.
The banker received his bachelor degree from the University of Indonesia (UI) and got his MBA from Erasmus University's Rotterdam School of Management, in the Netherlands.
