Jakarta. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Indonesia’s social security agency for workers, was awarded the 2017 Best Indonesian Insurance Company by the Economic Review research publication at the 50th Anniversary of Indonesia-Singapore Friendship event at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on Wednesday (23/08).

"This award is the result of the hard work of the management and the employees and the support of the stakeholders," Evi Afiatin, finance director at the agency, said in a statement received by the Jakarta Globe.

The award's assessment was based on the agency’s performance throughout 2016, including its financial management, management risk, human capital, technology and corporate communications, which were audited by three external auditors.

Besides the audit and published financial reports, there was also a face-to-face meeting between jurors and agency candidates.

"The published financial report does not necessarily reflect the overall state of the company […] Through the meeting, we can confirm and clarify the report’s content, thus the result will be more accurate," Herris B Simandjuntak, one of the jurors, explained.

According to Herris, to compete in a quickly changing world, insurance companies need to advance development in creating new and innovative products for their customers.
