Jakarta. Chief Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto announced that the ministry’s first 100-day plan will be aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda, focusing on key government goals such as energy and food self-sufficiency, job creation, and poverty reduction.

“The government is targeting energy and food self-sufficiency, job creation, boosting investment, lowering income inequality, and reducing poverty,” Airlangga said at the Economic Affairs Ministry on Monday.

President Prabowo has emphasized the importance of food self-sufficiency during his first year in office. According to Prabowo, achieving food independence is crucial to avoid dependence on other countries in times of crisis.

"Our survival as a nation depends on food sovereignty. A free nation must be able to produce and feed its people. We cannot continue to depend on imported food," Prabowo said at the BNI Investor Daily Summit not long ago.

Airlangga, who has served as Chief Economic Affairs Minister since 2019 under former President Joko Widodo, played a key role in shaping the government’s economic response to the Covid-19 pandemic and driving national economic recovery programs. In the current administration, his role has expanded to cover sectors previously overseen by the now-dissolved Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, including the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, the Investment Ministry, and the Tourism Ministry.
