Cibubur Junction Celebrates Kartini Day With 'Womenity'

Jakarta. Cibubur Junction, a shopping mall in East Jakarta operated by Lippo Malls Indonesia, is hosting a series of events called "Womenity" from April 16 to May 14 to celebrate Kartini Day, a statement received by the Jakarta Globe on Monday (17/04) said.

Kartini Day, which falls on April 21, commemorates the birthday of Indonesian heroine Raden Ajeng Kartini who fought for women's rights in the the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Cibubur Junction has prepared events for all visitors, but mostly targeted at mothers and children.

Every Tuesday, moms can join beauty classes, cooking demos, or hijab style workshops depending on the schedule.

A weekly drawing contest is available every Thursday. Children can also wear national costumes and compete in the "Little Kartini Fashion Competition" on April 30.

Elementary school students are also able to join the "CJ Junior Marching Band Competition" on May 6.

"Womenity" is also supported by Fitness First, which celebrates its 11th anniversary this April. The fitness center will hold a miscellaneous sports contest, "Tough Mom Challenge," for moms on April 26.

The final event of "Womenity" is the "Lucky Fiesta 4" lucky draw which has been collecting entries since August last year. The main prize is a Honda Mobilio car.

While the events last, visitors can enter a lucky dip by spending a minimum of Rp 500,000 ($37.5) at any store except Matahari Department Store and Hypermart, where they will have to spend at least Rp 1,000,000.

Besides getting a ticket to the draw, women drivers will also get 50 percent off their parking fees on Wednesdays.
