Construction of Hydroxyapatite Scaffold Production Facility Kicks Off in West Java
Jakarta. Phapros and Mitra Rajawali Banjaran, two subsidiaries of state-owned sugar producer Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia, began construction of a Rp 10 billion ($750,000) hydroxyapatite scaffold production facility at Banjaran in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday (22/08).
Phapros, which currently produces more than 250 types of prescription, generic and over-the-counter drugs, will produce hydroxyapatite scaffolds, used in bone tissue engineering, at the facility located within Mitra Rajawali Banjaran's plant.
"We initiated collaboration between Phapros, which has the capital and technology, with Mitra Rajawali Banjaran, which has land and an idle building as an asset," M. Yana Aditya, Phapros president commissioner and Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia finance director, said in a statement.
The construction will take about a year, with full production scheduled to start in the second half of 2018.
"The product will be the first local hydroxyapatite scaffolds in Indonesia," Phapros president director Barokah Sri Utami said, noting that similar products previously had to be imported from Italy, Germany and South Korea.
