. Said Abdullah, Chairman of the House of Representatives' (DPR) Budget Committee, has confirmed that an increase in the number of ministries under President-elect Prabowo Subianto's administration will not impact the state budget. The 2025 State Budget Draft (RAPBN 2025) includes provisions allowing the president to add or restructure ministries as necessary.

"The 2025 budget draft, which we have approved, permits the incoming president to establish new ministries or reorganize existing ones. Any additional funds needed will be sourced from other reserves," Abdullah stated during a press conference at the DPR building in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He assured that expanding the number of ministries under the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration would not disrupt the overall budget framework.

"It will not affect the budget posture. If it did, we would need to revise the budget. Since the budget has already anticipated this possibility, it will only require approval from the relevant committees," Abdullah explained.

Reports suggest that President-elect Prabowo Subianto is considering expanding his cabinet to 44 members. Experts have mixed views on this potential move. Economist Yusuf Rendy Manilet notes that such an expansion would require a larger budget allocation to support the increased number of ministries and their programs. The government has traditionally allocated significant portions of the state budget to meet the needs of various ministries and agencies.

The outgoing government has proposed a total budget of Rp 3,613 trillion for 2025. Of this amount, Rp 722.6 trillion is earmarked for education, Rp 197.8 trillion for health funding, Rp 504.7 trillion for social protection, Rp 124.4 trillion for food security, Rp 400.3 trillion for infrastructure, and Rp 372.3 trillion for defense.
