Garuda Launches Second Travel Fair This Year
Jakarta. Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia launched a second travel fair this year in hopes of drumming up ticket sales.
Arif Wibowo, Garuda’s president director, said on Friday that the “Garuda Indonesia Travel Fair 2015” would offer discount tickets and other special deals. The fair opened on Friday and ends on Sunday, and takes place in Jakarta, Bandung and Makassar.
The event then moves to Medan, Palembang, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Balikpapan, Kendari and Jayapura from Oct. 2 to 4.
“We hope to give [customers] the ease of preparing their travel itinerary long before their travel time,” Arif said.
“We offer a happy hour program where the guests can buy tickets with an 80 percent reduction between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.,” said Handayani, Garuda's commercial director.
Garuda held a similar event in April, when it recorded Rp 112 billion ($7.63 million) in sales. This time it hopes to rake in Rp 150 billion.
