GoInternational: Gojek Seeks More Southeast Asian Expansion

Jakarta. Ride-hailing company Gojek announced on Saturday a new long-term corporate strategy called "Going the Distance," which includes a plan to expand its services to Malaysia and the Philippines next year.
During an event to celebrate the company's ninth anniversary in Jakarta, Gojek's co-chief executives Kevin Aluwi and Andre Soelistyo said the company wants to focus on four aspects of its business in the near future: increasing customer satisfaction, harmonizing corporate development with business sustainability, becoming a global company through expansion into international markets and turning Gojek into a world-class workplace.
Soon Gojek will also expand its local services by collaborating with third-party platforms such as Halodoc for medicine delivery.
"We will also invest in other facilities and long-term initiatives that will ensure the best customer experience when using our app, including to develop cartography like Google Maps to increase the accuracy of the app's GPS," Kevin said.
Gojek also plans to change the ratio of its domestic versus international customers from 80:20 to 50:50 in the next five years, according to Andre.
Its ride-hailing service is already available in Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore, with Malaysia and the Philippines to follow next year.
Andre said in the last six months the company has also recruited world-class leaders from the tech industry, including from Netflix and Silicon Valley companies.
Gojek is currently valued at $10 billion and is one of Indonesia's four unicorns.
