Gojek Follows Grab to Offer Online Taxi Service at Soekarno-Hatta Airport

SEPTEMBER 11, 2019

Jakarta. Ride-hailing company Gojek has followed in Grab's footsteps to offer an app-based taxi service at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, by launching its new "GoCar Instan" service on Sept.10, airport operator Angkasa Pura II said.

GoCar Instan allows customers to order an online taxi on the spot once they have found a driver.

"Gojek's GoCar Instan complements the existing online taxi service at Soekarno-Hatta, which has been run by Grab," Angkasa Pura II corporate communication officer Yado Yarismano said in a statement released on Wednesday.

Construction work to refurbish Soekarno-Hatta's old terminals – Terminal 1 and 2 – is still going on. A brand new Terminal 4 is also in the works.

"[After the refurbishment] Terminal 1 and 2 will each be able to handle 18 million passengers per year, double their current capacity of 9 million," the airport's executive general manager Agus Haryadi said.

Angkasa Pura II has been aggressively campaigning for people to use public transportation to and from Soekarno-Hatta.

Until now, only 40 percent of around 250,000 people who come and go at the airport every day use public transportation.

Where to Pick Up Gojek and Grab?

GoCar Instan taxis are available from Terminal 2D and 2F's arrival area and soon from Terminal 1A and Terminal 3 (domestic only).

Grab is available from the arrival area at Terminal 1, 2D, 2F and 3 (international only).
