Hackathon Merdeka 2.0 Sets To Grow Digitalpreneur Ecosystem

Telkom, through the collaboration with IT Code4Nation has recently held the Hackathon Merdeka 2.0 simultaneously in 28 cities in 24-25 October 2015. The Hackathon Merdeka 2.0 event was held in Bandung Digital Valley (BDV) on October 24, 2015, and was attended by the Mayor of Bandung, Ridwan Kamil during the official opening ceremony through Video Conference facility with UMeetMe application.

"Hackathon Merdeka is regarded as a 2.0 horizontal movement to foster digitalpreneur in Indonesia and have a significant impact, especially in rising the IT community in Indonesia who mostly come from the creative Gen Y background," said Director of Innovation & Strategic Portfolio, Telkom Indra Utoyo during the opening ceremony Hackathon Merdeka 2.0 in Bandung (24/10).

Hackathon Merdeka 2.0 is a continuation from the same previous activity in August 2015 and has received appreciation from the President of the Republic of Indonesia. This activity was initiated by Code4Nation, which is a competition of content creation applications that use the information technology to solve national problems.

According to Indra Utoyo, Telkom's active role in the Hackathon Merdeka shows Telkom's commitment as a catalyst for the growth within the digital creative industry in Indonesia. Hackathon Merdeka 2.0 took place simultaneously in 28 cities, namely Banda Aceh, Toba, Medan, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Belitung, Tangerang, Depok, Bogor, Bandung, Cirebon, Garut, Banyumas, Wonosobo, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Pontianak, Balikpapan , Makassar, Mamuju, Manado, Denpasar, Sumbawa, Ambon, Jayapura and Sydney.

The Hackathon Merdeka will present the theme of "Population Data Problems" or Civic Empowerment (Citizen Centric). "Population is the foundation of data that must be owned by the government to be the basis of the establishment of policies and services to the community," said Indra.

During the implementation of the Hackathon Merdeka 2.0, Telkom provides full support which include the location of the execution that will utilize the Digital Valley, the Digital Lounge and the Office of Telkom in Indonesia, as well as support in the form of Internet connectivity, hosting, streaming and Logistics.

Indigo Batch II tahun 2015

In line with the Hackathon Merdeka 2.0 Telkom is currently undertaking the selection process of Indigo Batch II in 2015. The program is an effort to develop digital talent (startup) as well as building digitalpreneur ecosystem in Indonesia. Telkom actively participate through digital creative facilities, funding and as well as access to markets to accelerate the development of the digital creative industry in Indonesia.

The Selection of Indigo Batch II 2015, will include a unified process of selection which includes the stages of incubation, acceleration, and Venture. The selected startup incubation program will support up to a maximum of 18 months with the support of funding for the development of digital innovation up to a maximum of US $ 2 billion worth. The result f the Indigo Batch II 2015 selection was announced in the mid of November 2015.
