Jakarta. Car distributor Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) saw a 20 percent increase in car sales in Indonesia for May, delivering 7,805 units during the second quarter, up from 6,507 units the previous month.

"The automotive market conditions up to May have remained unstable due to the global and national economic situation," said Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of HPM, on Friday.

Honda noted that the Brio model was the most popular in the Indonesian market during May. Sales of this city car reached 4,236 units, accounting for 54 percent of Honda's total sales for the month.

The Brio also recorded a significant sales increase, rising by 23 percent compared to the previous month. Other Honda models also saw sales growth, such as the Honda HR-V, which sold 1,248 units, up 15 percent from the previous month.

Yusak is optimistic about Honda's sales potential in the second quarter of 2024, especially with the upcoming major exhibitions like the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2024 and Jakarta Fair Kemayoran 2024.

"We hope that various activities, such as the motorshows to be held in the second half of this year, will help maintain the positive sales trend," he said.

Honda showcased several of its flagship models at Jakarta Fair 2024, including the New Honda Brio Satya, Honda WR-V RS, New Honda BR-V N7X Edition Prestige, and All New Honda HR-V 1.5L SE in Hall A1.
