IMF's Lagarde to Visit Indonesia in September
Jakarta. Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, will visit Indonesia next week to discuss new financing processes for emerging markets, the Fund said in a statement on Wednesday.
During her visit scheduled on Sept. 1-2, Lagarde will meet with President Joko Widodo and his economic team, as well as Bank Indonesia governor Agus Martowardojo to exchange views on Indonesia's recent economic development and outlook. This would be her first visit to the country since 2012.
Lagarde is scheduled to take part in regional conference on the "Future of Asia’s Finance: Financing for Development 2015," organized by Bank Indonesia and the IMF to discuss new financing procedures for emerging economies in the region.
Indonesia borrowed from the Fund's and followed strict reform demands to pull itself out of the 1998 Asian financial crisis. The country paid off all its obligation in 2006.
