Indonesia-Australia Business Partnership Group Meets in Perth

Jakarta. The Indonesia-Australia Business Partnership Group discussed plans to facilitate negotiations on the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement during a meeting in Perth on Tuesday (26/04).

The meeting consisted of leaders from seven major Indonesian and Australian business organizations, and it was aimed at examining bilateral trade, economic cooperation and investment trends between the two nations.

"The BPG [Indonesia-Australia Business Partnership Group] is intending to provide fresh input into the IA-CEPA [Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement] negotiations by the end of June 2016, with a further year of engagement until June 2017," the business group said in a statement.

"The group will provide joint Indonesia-Australia business input to negotiators on the key trade, investment and economic cooperation issues the business community believes should be addressed by the IA-CEPA."

Present at the meeting were representatives of Indonesian business lobby the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), the Australian Industry Group, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Australia-Indonesia Business Council, the Indonesia-Australia Business Council and Kiroyan Partners.
