Indonesia Promotes Archipelago Tourism in India's Mumbai
Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism, along with the Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia, or KJRI, in Mumbai will hold the Wonderful Indonesia Promotional event at a diplomatic reception in Mumbai on Thursday (07/09).
"The diplomatic reception is to commemorate Indonesia’s 72nd Independence Day as well as to promote Indonesian art and culture to Indian officials and people," Vinsensius Jemadu, assistant deputy for the Asia-Pacific market at the ministry, said in a statement on Monday.
More than 300 guests, including Indian officials, journalists and public figures, are expected to visit the festival.
The guests will be treated to Indonesian traditional foods and art performances as well as batik souvenirs.
"According to the Central Statistic Agency [BPS] in Bali, per June, tourists from India numbered 129,727 people. The number increased 39.90 percent from the same period last year," Vinsensius said.
Since last December, national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has served direct flights between Denpasar and Mumbai, while budget airline AirAsia and Batik Air both opened routes from Denpasar to other cities in India.
