Kediri Airport to Become Fully Operational Next Week

Kediri. The newly-built Dhoho Airport in the East Java town of Kediri is set to become fully operational next week, just in time for the peak air traffic before and during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays.
During an inspection of the airport on Saturday, acting East Java Governor Adhy Karyono said the airport is "100 percent ready" to commence operations by April 5.
"At least one airline is prepared to begin operations at the airport," Adhy announced.
The airport, which received funding from cigarette giant Gudang Garam, boasts a capacity of up to 2 million passengers annually.
It features over 37,000 square meters of parking lots capable of accommodating hundreds of vehicles and buses.
Passenger terminals have been outfitted with check-in counters, immigration desks, baggage-handling systems, boarding bridges, and walk-through detectors.
"With preparations now at 100 percent, we anticipate the airport to commence full operations very soon, hopefully before Eid," Adhy said.
The initiative for the airport was spearheaded by Gudang Garam CEO Susilo Wonowidjojo in 2016, with construction starting in April 2020.
Dhoho Airport will be jointly managed by state-run airport operator Angkasa Pura and Surya Dhoho Investama, a subsidiary of Gudang Garam.
