Foundation Rings Opening Bell for 2015 Academic Year at Hikari Japanese School
Jakarta. Hikari Japanese School, an international school under the auspices of Pelita Harapan Education Foundation, officially started its 2015 academic term on Tuesday.
The school is located in Orange County, an integrated property development in Cikarang, West Java, which is poised to become a business and lifestyle center for Jakarta’s eastern corridor.
“Investing in education is fundamental, we provide the infrastructure needed in education to improve the quality of human resources in the 21st century,” said Pelita Harapan Education Foundation (YPPH) founder James T. Riady.
Some 1,600 factories located in Bekasi, West Java, are operated by Japanese companies that are expected to employ up to 6,000 Indonesian workers in three to five years, according to James.
Hikari Japanese School system coordinator Wiginy Kusliawan added: “At the moment we only open classes at the kindergarten level, with a target of around 100 students. We plan to gradually add an elementary, junior high and high school.
“This Christian-based educational school is built to accommodate the educational needs of Japanese children in Lippo Cikarang’s golden triangle. The Hikari Japanese School opens in May, adopting the educational calender of Japan,” he added.
