Lippo Mall Kemang Presents “Next Gen Experience”, Featuring Cosplay Competition

Jakarta. First Media has again held a roadshow titled “Next Gen Experience Tour” at Lippo Mall Kemang’s lobby in Jakarta on Nov. 19-20, as it featured different festivities involving various communities and competition.
The previous First Media Next Gen Experience Tour was held in Lippomall Puri, Pluit Village, Tamini Square and Cibubur Junction. These events were part of the First Media’s 20th anniversary celebration and flooded with various gifts, starting from free drinks at Maxx Coffee to $500 prize money.
Lilies Surjono, Head of Marketing Communication at Link Net, a subsidiary of First Media, said that the Next Gen Experience in Lippo Mall Kemang is the largest of the roadshow events, as it featured the festival of communities, comprising of the Indobolt/DSLR, Boardgame, Jakarta HipHop, JakSaber (Star Wars) IndoMusikGram, 501st Legion Indonesia (Star Wars), DieCast Indonesia and RC Drift.
"The community festival was applied since the First Media supports all communities,” Lilies said in Jakarta on Saturday (19/11).
Among the highlights are the Cosplay Competition, RC Drift Competition and Online Game Competition on Saturday. The Kids Fashion Show will be featured on Sunday for families.
Several attractions such as juggler performance, female DJ performance and hip-hop performance are also displayed.
“The event is supported by Mataharimall.com, Ovo mobile application and content partners such as HBO, Fox and Channel News Asia. They were promoting the program and films that will be aired in 2017," Lilies added.
She also mentioned that to appreciate customers, First Media has given the special program. Existing customers that will upgrade the package will have a discount of Rp 1.8 million. Meanwhile for new customer taking a one year subscription only have to pay for nine months.
In that event, First Media also launched a new product with the smart living concept, which is their latest innovation.
“It is a package to maintain house’s security that can be applied through the smartphone. As the result, we can observe the house from anywhere. In this event, the public may gain experience on the product,” Lilies said.
Cosplay competition within the Next Gen
On Saturday, various comic costumes enliven the Cosplay Competition by First Media in the Next Gen Experience. These beautiful costumes competed for the title of champion.
Adrian from Bekasi won the competition with a Japanese knight costume, as he earned Rp 2 million prize. The second place winner was Adikara (Bogor) with a robot costume, with the prize of Rp 1.5 million.
A judge for the Cosplay competition, Eko, said that there are lots of newcomers who still need more learning, especially in playing the roles and mastering their stage with their art in performing the costume.
In Cosplay, the assessment goes beyond the costume, but also how they play the roles represented in the costumes.
The term Cosplay itself came from costume and player, which means they have to play the role with their costume in unity.
“However, most of them were quite interesting in displaying their roles,” Eko said.
Another judge named Naru, who is also a professional Cosplayer, also added that the Cosplayers were dominated by knight costumes. However, there is no certain standard to create costume styles.
“The development of Cosplay in Indonesia was very good, as it even recognized in the global level. Indonesian Cosplayer emerged as winner from the 29 countries joining in August,” Naru said.
