Jakarta. The Manpower Ministry is urging ride-hailing and logistics courier companies to provide Eid bonuses (THR) to their workers in 2024.

This initiative follows a Circular Letter from the Minister of Manpower regarding the Implementation of Eid Bonuses for Workers in Companies.

"We have engaged with directors, management, and workers employed through digital platforms, including motorcycle taxi drivers and logistics couriers, to ensure the timely payment of Eid bonuses as stipulated in the Minister's Letter," stated Indah Anggoro Putri, Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security Development of Manpower, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Putri emphasized that despite their partnership status, motorcycle taxi drivers and logistics couriers are entitled to receive Eid bonuses as fixed-term workers (PKWT).

Online motorcycle taxi drivers usually do not receive Eid bonuses, which are typically equivalent to one month's basic salary and are given in full a week before Eid. The challenge stems from the fact that these online motorcycle taxi drivers do not have a monthly basic salary, posing difficulty for companies like Gojek, Grab, and Maxim in determining the Eid bonus amount.

She added that the Ministry will extensively disseminate information through various channels to facilitate the payment process, including through print and online media and industrial relations mediators across Indonesia.

Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah has directed companies to ensure full payment of THR to their employees no later than 7 days before Eid. Failure to comply may result in penalties, including written warnings, business operation restrictions, temporary production halts, or business suspensions.
