Matahari Opens New Nevada Store in Surabaya
Jakarta. Matahari Department Store, Indonesia's largest retailer of apparel, beauty, and home products, opened a new store at Pakuwon Mall in Surabaya, East Java, on Friday (15/12).
The specialty store for Matahari's in-house fashion brand Nevada is the company's eight this year. The new store is part of the company's strategy of expanding its business to small- and medium-sized cities in Indonesia.
Matahari has opened stores at Pacific Mall in Tegal (Central Java), Suncity Mall in Madiun (East Java), Lippo Plaza Jember (East Java), Manhattan Times Square in Medan (North Sumatra), Grage City Mall in Cirebon (West Java) and Citimall Lahat (South Sumatra) so far this year.
The company closed its stores at Pasaraya Manggarai and Pasaraya Blok M in South Jakarta in September, and another at Mall Taman Anggrek in West Jakarta this year. Matahari also plans to close its at Lombok City Center in West Nusa Tenggara by the end of this month.
The company currently has 155 department stores, compared with 151 last year.
"Matahari opened its Nevada store, a specialty store concept, that specifically presents a choice of various Nevada products. This store also shows Matahari’s commitment to providing the best service to all of our loyal customers with up-to-date fashion products," Miranti Hadisusilo, legal and corporate secretary at Matahari Department Store, said in a statement.
The new 200-square-meter Nevada store on the Pakuwon Mall's first floor, boasts an ecofriendly LED lighting system and more spacious layout.
The first Nevada store was opened at Plaza Semanggi in South Jakarta. The Pakuwon Mall is Surabaya's largest shopping center, located at the center of the West Surabaya central business district.
The Jakarta Globe and Matahari Department Store are both affiliated with the Lippo Group.
