Multipolar's GTN Data Center to Be Ready in July

APRIL 14, 2016

Jakarta. Graha Teknologi Nusantara, the data center unit of listed information technology company Multipolar Technology, will start the operation of its data center at Lippo Cikarang in Bekasi, West Java, in July, the company's executive said.

The GTN Data Center cost Rp 350 billion ($26.5 million) and offers 2,000 racks in a 6,500-square-meter area. The groundbreaking took place on July 2, 2015.

"We target the construction to be completed in June 2016 so we can begin operating in July," Graha Teknologi Nusantara chief executive Richard Kartawijaya said.

GTN – a joint venture between Multipolar Technology, Mitsui and Mitsui's subsidiary Mitsui Knowledge Industry – started their collaboration in 2014. It has set a target of having 400 racks ready for use by its customers by the end of this year.

The GTN Data Center offers a colocation center, cloud infrastructure as a service and a platform to every line of business, from small and medium enterprises to giant companies.

The data center is equipped with cold aisle containment – which lowers electricity consumption by up to 30 percent – and a chilled-water-based air conditioner, which could save up to 15 percent in electricity.

According to Richard, he considers all companies that form part of the Lippo Group as potential customers. Once the familiar companies give a positive response, Graha Teknologi Nusantara will also offer its services to other businesses.
