New Multipurpose Electronic Card for Train Passengers
Jakarta. Railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia and state-owned lender Bank Negara Indonesia launched a multipurpose electronic card for frequent passengers, allowing them to use one card on various forms of public transportation and at amusement parks.
"The launch is the part of the government's plan to encourage a cashless society or non-cash payment movement," BNI chief executive Ahmad Baiquni said in a statement received by the Jakarta Globe on Monday (19/12).
The electronic card, known as BNI TapCash RailPay, is available in regular, premium, gold and platinum options. Cardholders can use it to purchase train tickets and register on the KAI Access mobile application to use it on Commuterline Jabodetabek, TransJakarta busway, TransJogja city buses in Yogyakarta, e-parking at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's Terminal 3 Ultimate and on toll roads in Java and Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The card can also be used at tourist attractions such as Snowbay Waterpark and Taman Legenda at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) in East Jakarta, the Jungle Waterpark in Bogor, West Java, at outlets of retail store chain Alfamart and many more.
Cardholders can easily top up their balances at BNI ATMs, by SMS banking, at Alfamart and busway and commuter line service counters.
The BNI TapCash RailPay launch was attended by State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, KAI president director Edi Sukmoro, BNI chief executive Achmad Baiquni and members of the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara).
