Jakarta. Big Apple Buddy, a New York-based e-commerce firm, has added Microsoft's latest wearable technology to its line-up in another effort to attract gadget lovers in Indonesia with a personal shopping concierge service for hot-ticket items that are only available in the United States.
The start-up released a statement on Monday, setting out to ride on the wave of the newly launched Microsoft Band 2, the second-generation fitness tracker from Microsoft which was unveiled last week. Microsoft has not yet announced a release date for the product in Indonesia.
"Big Apple Buddy has a mission to eliminate international shopping barriers, giving consumers access to the latest tech products as soon as they are released in America, regardless of where they are in the world," the company said in a statement on Monday.
"Microsoft fans in Indonesia have the opportunity to pre-order the Microsoft Band 2 immediately through Big Apple Buddy today."
The online shopping concierge service will charge buyers a minimum service fee of $40 per order, which covers the company's legwork from discount negotiations to packaging and shipping.
A growing youthful population that is both tech-savvy and affluent has been attracting an array of online-based companies to Indonesia.
Big Apple Buddy, which claims a client base in more than 60 countries around the world, first offered shipments of the latest Apple products from the US to Indonesian consumers earlier in September.
