PGN Helps Candy Company Reach International Aspirations
Jakarta. In an effort to provide clean energy, Perusahaan Gas Negara's is supporting candy company Serba Gurih Indonesia, which is based in East Java and exports ginger flavored candy to America, Europe and Australia.
"With increasing competitiveness in the global market, the support of [PGN] plays a vital role for the success of Indonesian industries, one of them being Serba Gurih Indonesia, which makes ginger candy," said PGN secretary Rachmat Hutama in a press release on Tuesday (17/04).
Rachmat explained that PGN’s continued support for Indonesian industries stems from the potential and persistence of the candy company.
"In the process, Serba Gurih was denied because the investment in building a network was deemed disproportionate to the usage volume," Rachmat said.
But Serba Gurih insisted and even spent Rp 575 million ($38,000) to build and connect its network to the gas company’s distribution network. "Both companies came to an agreement."
PGN has built and operates gas pipes spanning 7,453 km, or about 80 percent of Indonesia’s gas stream. From this, the company provides energy for 1,730 industrial clients and power plants, 1,964 commercial clients, and small businesses and to 199,403 homes in Indonesia spread across 19 cities and 12 provinces.
