Jakarta. Seekmi, an online service marketplace, secured a multi-million dollar Series A funding recently to expand its business to other cities in Indonesia, its chief operating officer Clarissa Leung said on Tuesday (31/05).

Clarissa said the "seven-figure" funding will help the company expand its business to regions outside Greater Jakarta and Bandung – where Seekmi provides its services – such as Bali, Medan, Surabaya, Semarang and Makassar.

The company also plans to allocate a large portion of their investment towards developing the company's human capital by focusing on leadership, research and development and expanding its team of information technology and engineer personnel.

This first round of financing was led by CyberAgent Ventures and joined by Indonesian and global venture capital firms. Other investors participating in this funding round included VenTek Ventures, Convergence Ventures, Kinara, Grupara and Balancop Investment.

Clarissa said that with the 65,000 registered service providers across Indonesia, Seekmi offers a trusted and comprehensive platform to connect these small-medium enterprises (SMEs) to its costumers.

Seekmi, which was founded early last year, currently caters to more than 500 different service categories with over 5,000 active service professionals in Greater Jakarta and Bandung, Clarissa added.

“As we expand to other regions in Indonesia, we will be rapidly signing up more service providers and plan to grow our base by 150-300 percent each year. We could grow our service provider base even faster but the next two years we will be focusing on quality over quantity,” Clarissa told the Jakarta Globe on Tuesday.

She expects the number of transactions to increase significantly in the next year as more and more Indonesians trust Seekmi to be their go-to platform for ordering all types of services.

“We see huge growth in our business and expect that the majority of Indonesians will have our app installed on their phone and use it on a weekly basis in the very near future,” Clarissa said.
