Jakarta. Renowned property developers Setiawan Dwi Tunggal, operating under the name SouthCity, and Summarecon Agung have joined forces in a joint venture to construct a shopping mall with an initial investment of Rp 1 trillion ($63.3 million).

Spanning 6.4 hectares, the mall will strategically position itself in the center of the SouthCity superblock, catering to residents in southern Jakarta, including Cinere and Pondok Cabe.

"The mall’s design will embrace contemporary architecture, creating a lifestyle powerhouse for everyone, from millennials and young executives to families," SouthCity Director Peony Tang said in a statement on Wednesday.

Beyond the conventional retail shops, restaurants, children's playgrounds, and entertainment spots, the mall will prioritize ample green spaces, enhancing the overall experience, she said.

Peony revealed that the agreement between SouthCity and Summarecon's subsidiary, Summarecon Investment Property, culminated after more than two years of discussions.

"We are fortunate to have found a partner who shares the same values as SouthCity and is committed to building a community that will grow sustainably in the future," she said.

SouthCity, a dynamic urban residential and commercial district sprawled across 57 hectares, is dedicated to crafting upscale apartments, landed homes, shophouses, and entertainment hubs, she added.

Situated a mere 2.5 kilometers from the Cinere-Jagorawi toll gate, the SouthCity superblock offers easy accessibility from nearby railway transport MRT stations. Furthermore, it boasts convenient access to toll roads leading to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Depok city.
