Telkom Helps in Disaster Recovery After Lombok Earthquake
Jakarta. Telkom Indonesia and a number of state-owned companies have been delivering aid to people affected by the earthquake in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
"This donation is one of Telkom's commitments to social responsibility and a form of concern for the community, especially the Lombok people who are affected by the earthquake," Telkom's consumer service director Siti Choiriana said on Wednesday (08/08).
Siti Choiriana visited shelters for the earthquake evacuees set up by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in the city of Tanjung, North Lombok.
"Hopefully this aid can ease the burden of those who were affected by the earthquake," she said.
Telkom also provided special packages of 50 minutes of free calls and 200 free SMS to all operators for seven days to all Telkomsel prepaid customers in Lombok.
Additionally, Telkom also helped with portable sanitation facilities, generators, emergency supplies and free telephone services at evacuation sites.
The donations were distributed through the State-Owned Enterprises' (BUMN) Hadir Untuk Negeri post coordinated by Bank Mandiri.
After the earthquake disrupted its services, Telkom deployed a crisis management team to oversee their recovery.
"All Telkom services in Lombok are now back to normal. We will continue to monitor and take mitigation measures to reduce the impact of the disaster, especially on our infrastructure and production equipment on the island," Siti said.
