Telkom Is Set To Support Indonesia's Maritime Sector

Telkom is set to support Indonesia's maritime sector by providing Digital Support Solutions for seaports throughout Indonesia. PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) has once again shown its commitment to support Indonesia's maritime sector through the Kick Off Event: 18 Broadband Port 2015 in providing Digital Support Solution for seaports in Indonesia.

Muhammad Awaluddin, Director of Enterprise & Business Service for Telkom explained that Telkom's current program is in line with President Joko Widodo's vision in establishing a strong and independent maritime country that supports national interest.

According to Awaluddin, Telkom took a significant contribution in supporting the program especially in managing 3 essentials aspects such as: Maritime Logistic, Maritime Fishery, and Maritime Defense. In the Maritime Logistics, Telkom has implemented the Broadband Ports through Connectivity and ICT services in 6 main seaports in Indonesia namely Pelabuhan Belawan, Pelabuhan Batam, Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok, Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak, Pelabuhan Makasar, and Pelabuhan Sorong.

Meanwhile, the Maritime Fishery program has implemented 11 Digitalization of the Kampung Nelayan (Fisherman Village) through the Connectivity & ICT services at various location such as Gabion-Medan, Bungus-Padang, Muara Angke-Jakarta, Muara Baru- Jakarta, Paotere Sabutung-Makasar, Tanjung Luar-Nusa Tenggara Barat, Brondong-Lamongan, Pekalongan, Tegalsari-Tegal, Cilacap, and Pangandaran-Tasik.

As for the Maritime Defense program, Telkom has implemented the provision of telecommunication facilities (VSAT Connectivity, Femtocell, TV, PSTN) in 11 outer islands of Indonesia, namely Pulau Marore, Pulau Berhala, Pulau Fani, Pulau Nipah, Pulau Miangas, Pulau Rondo, Pulau Bras, Pulau Sekatung, Pulau Batek, and Pulau Data. Regarding the development plan in 2015, Awaluddin convey that Telkom will increases Broadband Ports in 18 other ports, with an investment value approximately Rp. 5 Billion per port. Therfore, Telkom has prepared a total budget of Rp. 90 billion for the deployment. As for the Maritime Fishery, the digitalization program will further expand into 100 Fisherman Village. And finally, The Maritime Defense program will be extends its provision of telecommunication facilities in 25 outer islands.

During the Kick Off Event, Telkom along with the Indonesian Beaurau of Classification (BKI), Pelindo I, The Indonesian Navy, and KPL Mina Sumitra, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in ICT Cooperation as a form of support in developing Indonesia's maritime sector.
