Tourism Ministry, AirAsia to Sponsor Familiarization Trip for Chinese Travel Agents
Jakarta. The Ministry of Tourism has partnered with Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia to arrange a familiarization trip, or famtrip, for 10 travel agents from China to Jakarta's Thousand Islands region and West Java's Bandung on Sept. 4-8.
The trip is expected to increase tourist arrivals from the neighboring Chinese city of Macau to Indonesia, as well as help the ministry meet its 2017 target of attracting 15 million foreign tourists to destinations across the archipelago.
"This famtrip is also related to AirAsia’s new Jakarta-Macau flight. I hope this will bring a good impact to Indonesian tourism," Vinsensius Jemadu, assistant deputy for the Asia-Pacific market at the ministry, said in a statement on Thursday (07/09).
The new route is expected to increase the total number of Chinese tourists to the Southeast Asian country to reach 1,874,000 people this year.
The travel agents will visit Jakarta's Pramuka Island, where participants will be able to dive and snorkel.
The agents will also take part in the Jakarta City Tour program, where they will visit the city's Old Town (Kota Tua), the Istiqlal Mosque and the National Monument (Monas).
In Bandung, the guests will visit Mount Tangkuban Perahu, Rumah Mode factory outlet and the iconic Gedung Sate building.
