Trade Minister Gobel to Lead Envoy in Europe

Jakarta. Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel will lead a trade mission to Europe from April 29 to May 4, the trade ministry said in a statement on Monday.

The ministry said Rachmat seeks to promote trade to Indonesia from those countries through bilateral diplomacy.

The envoy will consist of 36 delegates from Indonesian companies involved in processed foods, textiles, palm oil, steel, fishery, tire, plastic, processed coffee and transportation services.

Rachmat and his envoy are scheduled to meet ministers dealing with economic affairs in Denmark, Italy and Poland. They will also attend a business forum, business matching events and have one-on-one business meetings.

Ari Satria, director of market development and export information at the Ministry of Trade, said the trade mission “aims to help boost [Indonesia’s] exports to markets in Europe as well as to invite European investors to participate actively in Indonesia’s economic development.”
