Jakarta. National Police’s anti-terror unit Densus 88 shot dead two alleged terrorists and arrested two others at two separate places near Jatiluhur dam in Purwakarta district of West Java on Sunday (25/12).
National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Rikwanto said police arrested two terror suspects, identified as Ivan and Rizal, on Jalan Ubrug, in Cibinong, Jatiluhur, at around 9 a.m.
Based on tips-off from two arrested suspects, police raided a floating home in Jatiluhur dam at 12 p.m.
During the second raid, two suspects, identified as Abu Sofi and Abu Fais, ignored five warning shots fired by police and attempted to fight back with machetes. Police later shot them dead.
"We also confiscated several evidences during the raids," Rikwanto said without elaborating further as Densus 88 are still examining the scene.
Four suspects allegedly planned to perpetuate attacks during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, according to police.
They had close links to Bahrun Naim, an Indonesian militant believed to be in Syria fighting for the Islamic State.
Police have named Bahrun as the mastermind behind the attacks by Islamic State sympathizers in downtown Jakarta in January, which killed four people.
