Jakarta. Search and rescue teams rescued 13 climbers, including seven Singaporeans, from forest fires raging on Mount Raung in East Java on Saturday morning, the National Search and Rescue Agency, or Basarnas, said.

The fires started around the Camp 7 and Camp 9 areas on the mountain on Friday afternoon.

The volcano is located on the borders of three districts in East Java: Bondowoso, Jember and Banyuwangi.

All 13 survivors were evacuated to the Kalibaru base camp in Banyuwangi after rescuers found them early on Saturday morning.

"The wounded climbers received medical treatment before they were evacuated to Kalibaru. We had sent a medical team from Jember," Basarnas coordinator Asnawi Suroso said in a statement on Saturday.

According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the 13 survivors comprised two porters, two local guides and two Indonesian and seven Singaporean climbers.

The Singaporeans have been identified as Ng Hui-Lin (23), Kim Jun Wei (24), Shervon Ong (24), Teo Yi Xian (24), Pang Jia Hui (25), Beh Ing Tsyr (23) and Chua Ying Jie (27).

"The fire hot spots are spreading to other locations," BNPB spokesman Agus Wibowo said on Saturday morning.
