Firza Husein Denied Legal Rights: Family
Jakarta. The family of Firza Husein, who is allegedly involved in a plot against the government, has protested to the Jakarta Police as reportedly no lawyer was present when she was taken into custody.
"We protest, as during the arrest, Firza was only accompanied by her sister and a house assistant. The family complains that no lawyer was present," Firza's lawyer Aziz Yanuar said shortly after the arrest on Tuesday (31/01).
Meanwhile, Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. M. Iriawan has confirmed that Firza is suspected of being involved in a scheme to overthrow the legitimate government.
A group of 11 high-profile activists have been named suspects for allegedly plotting against President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and his administration and planning to hijack the peaceful prayer rally in Jakarta on Dec. 2.
Among them were also rock star Ahmad Dhani, former military generals Kivlan Zein and Adityawarman, theater director and activist Ratna Sarumpaet, former President Suharto loyalist Virza Husein, politician Eko Suryo and activists Alvinindra Al Fariz and Rachmawati Sukarnoputri – the youngest daughter of former President Sukarno.
