KPK Names Immigration Attache a Suspect in a Passport Graft Case
Jakarta. The national antigraft agency on Tuesday (07/02) named Dwi Widodo, immigration attache at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a suspect in a passport and visa graft case.
Dwi has allegedly received bribes for issuing in 2013-2016 passports to Indonesian citizens residing in Malaysia and calling visas (an approval from the Indonesian Immigration Office) to foreigners.
"Based on the investigation, KPK [Corruption Eradication Commission] has found initial evidence related to the Indonesian passports issuance in 2016, and the calling visas issuance in 2013-2016. KPK has named D.W. a suspect," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said in Jakarta on Tuesday (07/02).
According to Febri, Dwi has allegedly received Rp 1 billion ($75,000) in bribes from an agency that deals with Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia.
While the KPK is investigating the case, directorate general of immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has summoned Dwi to Jakarta and dismissed him from his current position.
The directorate general has also banned Dwi from travelling abroad, following a request from the KPK.
